Reitinstitute Egon von Neindorff
A glimpse of the future
Herr Egon von Neindorff was a very good friend of Dr. Zalis, and they often held long phone conversations. Thanks to their friendship, I was sent to Karlsruhe, Germany, to visit the Reitinstitute Egon von Neindorff, where I stayed for a few weeks to observe their highly regarded training and riding.
That was where I first saw Melissa Simms, who would become my mentor some years into the future. Although we didn’t officially meet during my first visit in Karlsruhe, I watched her school her horses every evening and began to develop the deep respect for her that continues to this day.
I came home humble and excited at the same time. I started to work even harder on my own riding. But winning numerous dressage competitions didn’t bring me satisfaction. Even at that time, I knew I was looking for the truth and pure quality in the riding arts.
